Blog posts preferably should be short and to the point. One way to ensure this is to write like a news reporter by adopting the inverted pyramid style of copywriting. This will not only help readers scan your webpage but also help in search engine optimisation.
This article in the Australian newspapers website offers a good example of the inverted pyramid style of writing.
In the opening paragraph the entire story is summarised: what happened, who, how, when and where. So to understand the gist of this story all you have to do is read the first couple of sentences.
Also notice how the remaining paragraphs support and add further information to the opening paragraph in descending order of significance to it.
The key information is at the top and the least important is at the bottom hence the name ‘inverted pyramid’.
Notice too how the headline summarises succinctly what the article is all about.
Adopting the inverted pyramid approach to your writing also allows you to embed keywords where they have the most impact, right upfront in the headline (title) and the opening paragraphs of the article.

I enjoyed reading such a good article. Such insighful writing is rare these days. Informed comment like this has to be lauded. I’ll certainly be looking in on this blog again in the near future!

I have been working as an SEO and Web Promotion expert for the last 4 years, as of late I have been doing a lot of freelance work . I contacted many companies and i got some jobs to boot. I recently stumbled across this Write like reporter to get your blog message across faster | Lucid Lingo page about 3 weeks ago and found some useful material, so thought i’d go through my bookmarks again to see if there was any fresh content, and i’m glad I did!
